We have carried out tasks on main propulsion, bow & stern thruster, Responsible for repairs & class inspection on a large selection of vessels during dry docking.
Represented the 3-world-leading vessel propulsion factories, serving customers and ensuring optimum safe, compliant, continuous, and certified operation of propulsion equipment.

Production Technician (Oil & Gas) (2018 – December 2019)

    Norsea Group | TOTAL Tyra Øst Platform (Danish North Sea)

    Transferred previous 25 years of Marine Engineering experience to the Offshore industry, contributing to the continuous safe production of Oil while assisting in plant preparations for the simultaneous platform Decommissioning, by:

    • Operating (opening/resetting), maintaining and testing valves/pumps according to required measurements while identifying and minimising impact on mechanical, electrical and hydraulic machinery, engines and equipment.

      Promoted from Industrial Engineer to Superintendent Engineer with MAN Diesel for 6 years to maximise in-depth Propeller, Main Engine and Gear Box manufacturing expertise, followed by a further 6 years in the role with RRM & Wärtsila, to:

      • Ensure the compliant, continuous and certified functioning of Cable / Pipe Laying / WTG Installation / Heavy Lifting / Offshore Support / Bunker / Container Vessels for the Oil & Gas / Wind Power / Construction / Cargo industries

      • Acting as Site Foreman, delivering daily vessel Toolbox Talks and Work Scope Briefings and ensuring the Engineering Team adhere to Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) and H&S procedures
      • Supervising work scopes e.g. Main propulsion, Bow/Stern/Azimuth thrusters, Reduction gear, Main engines, deck equipment (cranes, winches etc.), through to software commissioning, final testing, adjustment, and sea trials
      • Taking control of complex/challenging tasks e.g. bearing/seal replacements, identifying, investigating, diagnosing and troubleshooting faults, investigating root causes and generating preventative measures as relevant
      • Facilitating work progress by ensuring timely provision of correct and certified equipment/materials, while organising disposal of parts for refurbishing/recycling/scrapping as relevant
      • Liaising with Clients i.e. Vessel/Harbour Owners, e.g. Mærsk, Royal Greenland, Keppel, and Classification Registrars e.g. DNV GL, Rena
      • Updating Maintenance Records and producing daily/weekly Progress Reports and detailed Completion Reports, including photographic evidence, for clients.

        Optimised an earlier 6 years’ of Post-Qualified Experience with MAN Diesel working in all 3 Principle Departments – Propeller, Main Engines (2-stroke & 4-stroke), Gear Boxes – and the Fabrication Shop to specialise in the Propulsion Section:

        • Producing and testing (Classification certifying) adjustable main propeller of all sizes.

        Directional Drilling / Cable Installation Operator (2000 – 2003)

          Villy Andersen Entreprenør: Multiple construction projects e.g. Frederikshavn Offshore Wind Demo (Denmark)

          Participated in the underground installation of HV/LV / fibre optic utilities cables/pipelines e.g. OWF Export Cables, power, telecommunications, water, gas, by:

          • Operating and maintaining a then-novel HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) machine (Vermeer) to drill cable lines
          • Operating and maintaining various models of Cable Blowing Machines to lay up to 6km of cables for clients.

          Industrial (Marine) Engineer (1994 – 2000)

            Leveraged 3-year time-served Industrial Technician Apprenticeship with MAN Diesel, followed by a mandatory 12 months of Military Service (Sergeant: Royal Danish Air Force) to return to MAN Diesel as a Qualified Engineer:

            • Applying and developing comprehensive, component-level expertise in Hydraulics, Powerpacks, Gear pumps etc., in deployments to all 3 Principle Departments and the Fabrication Shop (CNC Production).
            • Gained a reputation for assembly skills, leveraging detail-oriented, focused approach to seamlessly and swiftly assemble parts to exceed right-first time parameters.

              Visits to more than 56 shipyards
              During my visits to shipyards worldwide, job scopes has been project lead on propulsion equipments, thrusters, & tail shafts, reduction gear &  Main engines. Complete overhaul/repairs ,bearing replacements of shaft seals, & class inspections on large Wessel’s.  All from the first step to final testing / adjustments. Participation in sea trials and reporting to the customer. Etc….

              Instructor

              It´s a pleasure sharing experience and knowledge, even though the material is well known in detail is there personal development in teaching, which I find very enriching. The topic is ship Propulsion, it’s currently being held at EUC, the material is technical excerpts from my own reports, photos, and not least narration based on my projects done worldwide.

              Offshore Technician

              Flexible production technician with experience from several platforms in the Danish sector. Able to join at short notice without fixed rotation, all relevant courses are up to date.
              From my time at Tyra East where I as runner for the Control room took part in the daily tasks to optimize the production of oil & gas.
